The Bills played the Thursday game and made relatively short work of the Patriots. It wasn’t as lopsided as some of their other impressive blowouts but cruising to a 14-point win in the NFL is not easy, especially in heated rivalry games. Buffalo basically dominated the game from start to finish aside from a few plays here and there.
The real moment of truth came after the Patriots salvaged a late drive with a field goal to cut the lead to 24-10. Buffalo got the ball back inside the two-minute warning and New England still had all three of their timeouts. However, the Bills’ offense lined up in victory formation, took a knee, and Bill Belichick didn’t do anything about it.
More often than not, a team is going to at least try to do something there. New England could have burned all their timeouts, got the ball back, and put together an inconsequential drive, but both sides knew what was up. Bills coach Sean McDermott basically looked across the sideline and said, you know we whipped you so just stay down. It was glorious but probably very frustrating for Pats fans who saw their team just tuck their tails and walk to the locker room.
I wasn’t sure I was even going to do this today, because I am running low on bandwidth. So, I decided to spilt the difference and do it like last week.
