About Me

It seems like I am getting some new visitors here, so I figured I should update the About Me page.

If you’ve made it this far, you can probably tell I love film and talking about it with others. I have my Bachelor’s in Journalism from Cal State Northridge and have worked for KABC 790AM, Young Hollywood/Hollywood Life, LA TV Film USA, and RoguesOnly. I started laying the groundwork for this site in 2017 and expanded into podcasts in 2020. However, my connection to film goes back further than that.

My grandmother was an actress and background vocalist in Hollywood, she was actually in The Sound of Music! My mom worked as the general manager for a Movieline magazine before partnering with film festivals and awards show, so I grew up around the industry. That upbringing informed much of my taste in cinema and exposed me to quite a bit at a young age that I probably shouldn’t have been watching.

When my mom passed away I decided to start writing about film. In some capacity, it was a way for me to handle my gried and stay connected to her. She had taken me to a lot of press screenings and premiers, and we’d seen a lot of movies together over the years, and I missed bonding with her over that. So, doing this felt natural.

While it started that way, the website has grown over the years to include some sports, contributing writers, book reviews, opinion articles, and a companion podcast that launched the whole Sheist Podcast Network.

Thanks for taking the time to check out this section! I still believe word of mouth is the best way to help, so if you enjoy what I’m doing, please tell somebody. And if you have a comment, I’d love to hear it! Liking, subscribing, and sharing go a long way too. As usual, be well, be safe, and have fun no matter how you get your movies!
